Melissa Perret

A Canadian who has been living in Europe since 2012, Melissa is a cheerful and motivated individual who is passionate about the fitness industry and the transforming effect of movement in everyday life. Beginning in endurance sports and triathlon, she started functional movement training approximately six years ago and since then it has been her main focus (with an occasional half marathon thrown in for good measure!).

Suffering from Type 1 diabetes since age 11, she is a firm believer in using physical activity to help manage the symptoms of chronic disease. She has first hand knowledge of how much exercise can improve physical, mental, and emotional well-being and is passionate about sharing this with others.

Melissa believes that a workout should be fun but challenging, and that it should give a sense of accomplishment, confidence, and achievement. Students can expect full-body training incorporating both cardio and body-weight strength training, performed in a supportive and accommodating group setting.

Melissa Perret instructs the following:

  • If you like the feeling of the positive rush of endorphins, and breaking a good sweat, this class is for you!
    The main focus is on fat burning and toning of all muscle groups (arms, shoulder, back, legs, abs, and booty) to make you feel lean and confident. We will focus on body weight resistance training with exercises that are designed to engage maximum number of muscles in one movement, and mimic your natural functional movement patterns and hence develop your strength and fitness.
    We will also do some cardio training, designed to improve your heart-centered fitness as well as increase your body's fat burning capability during, and even after your workout.

    This class is held in English, but most of our teachers speak some French, so don't hesitate to ask for help understanding.

    *Showers and designated changing facilities available only at Studio Bleu in 75009; all other indoor locations have restroom facilities available for changing.


    CLASS LEVEL: This class is open to every level of practitioner from beginners on up. Our instructors give careful guidance to ensure that everyone is comfortable in the foundation of the posture, and modifications to increase or decrease the intensity of each position will be available. Feel free to ask for modifications.

    If we cancel the class (due to bad weather, teacher absence, low attendance, facility conflict, etc.), your class credit will be automatically returned to your Affordable Yoga & Fitness account, to be used for a future reservation.
