Dynamic Vinyasa Flow Yoga

This class is taught by:

Daphné Vanderschelden

Daphne started practicing yoga 8 years ago, when her father advised her to try it as a way to deal with stress. He promised it could help her to get a more peaceful life, and he was right: she has never stopped since her first class.

She experimented many types of yoga as Bikram, Hatha, Ashtanga, Yin, Retroactive and Vinyasa, and she continues building her personal practice today.

As soon as she got an opportunity to take a gap year, she completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher
Training with the Radiantly Alive Yoga studio in Bali. She first decided to gain teacher certification to deepen her knowledge in
something that had helped her both mentally and physically for years. Soon after starting, though, she realised how much she loved sharing her passion with people. That's how she decided to stay in Bali for few months after her training and start something completly new ; teaching yoga.

And now, back in Paris, she couldn't stop doing what she started and what she really loves. Her main focus in teaching is to help people to realise that they can live in a virtous circle by listening to themselves, by
taking care of their mind and body instead of chasing after "performance" on the mat and in life.

Her Dynamic Vinyasa class will make you sweat by breathing through each pose of the flow. Get ready to release what doesn’t serve you anymore, and nourish your mind and body with what makes you feel good.

Kate Pavlova

Kate arrived to Paris 7 years ago as her business degree was split between London and Paris. And then Paris just happened, as it does for so many of us.

After intensive business studies and 5 years of work in analytics and data consulting, Kate found a way to balance her 2 passions : tech and yoga.

She completed her Teacher Training in 2018 at YogaWorks in Santa Monica, California – the famous mecca of both Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and world-famous yoga teachers. More than that, many successful business people recognise that yoga has largely enhanced their professional performance and balanced their mental health.

Kate promotes the idea that yoga is not just physical exercise but a holistic science. Studying yoga philosophy, history, anatomy and other aspects can replace all the fancy self-development books and expensive therapy sessions.

As a yoga teacher, Kate wants to break the cliché about yoga students and teachers being « from somewhere else » and help each and every person to enhance his or her daily life, bring clarity to the mind and finally have an ability to truly connect to yourself.

Her sequence is designed to be physically challenging yet anatomically safe – but most importantly, modified appropriately for each and every body type and physical conditions.

Alice Price-Styles

Alice has her mother to thank for introducing her to the wonders of Yoga and of Paris. After several special trips to Paris with her mother as a child and teenager, Alice began to dream of one day living here. So, she finally booked a one-way ticket from the U.K. (her home country), packed her bags, and made that dream come true.

She started practising Sivananda Yoga with her mother when she was 15, and over the years has experimented with many types of Yoga, including Ashtanga, Hatha, Jivamukti, Yin, and Restorative.

She completed her 200 Hour Teacher Training in Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow at Sampoorna Yoga in Goa, India. She has long been drawn towards Eastern philosophy, and is as concerned with the spiritual elements and benefits of yoga as the physical.

Outside of class, Alice is a writer and music journalist, specialising in interviews with hip-hop artists. Music is an integral part of her life, believing that listening to music has the potential to be a sublimely spiritual experience. She simply loves to combine yoga practice with the sonic vibrations that too stir her soul.

In her Vinyasa Flow classes you can expect to move, stretch, and sweat through dynamic sequences, with an emphasis on syncopating the breath to movement. And, of course, to hear lovingly curated playlists of underground and old school hip-hop.

Alice does not currently teach any regular classes with us.

Ellen McQueen

Ellen McQueen arrived in Paris June of 2015 after graduating from New York
University with a degree in Creative Writing and Literature. She pursued her passion for literature by working on a fiction book, spending too much time at Shakespeare & Co, and writing articles.

From Paris she was able to explore her love of travel, having now
visited countries in Europe, Africa, and a bit of the Middle East. Her enthusiasm for yoga began as a freshman in a Connecticut boarding school, and followed her to New
York City where she lived for five years.

In February 2017 she had the opportunity toparticipate in a 200 hour ashtanga vinyasa teacher training course in Goa, India with
Kranti Yoga. What began as an alternative to a high school sports requirement has become for Ellen an integral part of maintaining a healthy body, mind, and soul. In New York
City yoga was the perfect reprieve from the chaotic and oftentimes toxic metropolitan life, and in Paris it has provided her with an amazing community and a platform to build
strength and independence.

In an effort to combine a love of art with yoga, Ellen’s classes are typically
centered around a quote from poetry, literature, an artist, etc, and aim to follow a related theme throughout. Each class is intended to be as equally beneficial for the mind and soul as it is for the body. She enjoys variation, learning / incorporating new postures,
and lots of movement following breath. She’s happy to grab a coffee after class and enjoy conversation about yoga, literature, art, travel, history, etc

“I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.” - Helena Bonham Carter
This high-intensity class builds heat, detoxes the body, explores and expands personal limits, and lets the body sweat!

Structured around traditional Vinyasa technique, this class will give special attention to the fluid transition between each posture, allowing for a vibrant and intimate connection to the self. Classes may be structured around full-body engagement, or around a special theme such as backbends, hips & twists, or inversions & arm balances.

This class is held in English, but most of our teachers do speak some French, so don't hesitate to ask for help understanding.
