Vinyasa Flow Yoga - 90min

This class is taught by:

Alick Tsay

Alick is a full time architect and a full time yogi.

Born in Taiwan and grew up on three continents, he is a polyglot (speaking 7 languages fluently), multi-cultural and multi-disciplined.

He is a qualified Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga instructor, training under the mentorship of Lunda Munro and Gérald Disse.

He is currently deepening his anatomy studies with Linda Munro, Amy Matthews and Leslie Kaminoff, the world-renowned co-authors of "Yoga Anatomy".

Having a history of lower back and shoulder issues and now recovered, thanks to yoga, he is hoping to share his experience to help people develop their understanding and practice of Yoga.

Even though his personal practice is Ashtanga which is rather dynamic and disciplined, his teaching emphasis is very much on the connection to the breath, awareness and mindfulness. With his Mysore styled self-practice background, he enjoys giving practitioners personal adjustments, modifications and advice adapted to the students' own individual morphology and specific difficulties. His ultimate goal is to give the students empowered autonomy in their practice.

As yoga is perceived more of a women’s sport trend today, he is also keen to promote it to more men and to encourage them to overcome societal stereotypes to obtain the wider-benefits that Yoga can bring to their own lives.

Here are three simple classroom rules for Alick's class :

(1) Breathe. Never hold your breath during the practice.

(2) Don't force yourself beyond your own limits. Be happy to stay at 60% as well as 95% of your limit depending on your physical and mental conditions on the day you practise.

(3) No judgement. No comparison. Yoga is not a performance and the teacher is only there to help you deepen your practice in a safe and beneficial way.

Atie Julie

Atie found Yoga in 2006 in her home country, Indonesia. Leaving her country in 2008, she continued to practice wherever she lived. She likes to say: “Home where the yoga is.”

She has two certificates of 200-hour of Teacher Training; Hatha-Vinyasa style and Ashtanga Vinyasa. She is also certified to teach Restorative Yoga.

Atie's Yoga journey continued while she was living in New York and she decided to take a 200-hour Teacher Training with YogaWorks, followed by Level 1 Restorative Yoga training in the same studio. She taught Yoga at the French Consulate in New York.

On her way from New York to Paris, Atie discovered Ashtanga Vinyasa in Bali. She continued her Ashtanga practice in Paris and in the summer of 2017 she took her 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher Training at Ashtanga Yoga Paris under the guidance of Linda Munro and Gerald Disse.

For Atie, Ashtanga is more meaningful than simply a physical practice. It’s a disciplined practice, but not need rigid; discipline means to continue along the path and to stay grounded, keeping the structures but honoring our own body. The practice allows her to explore the possibility to go further but also, learning to sense where she needs to put herself in the practice. Atie also includes pranayama and meditation in her practice.

As a teacher Atie strives to be mindful to students, to nurture and to give them freedom to express themselves with no judgement.

Outside her Yoga practice, Atie also practices Crossfit. She considers her life balanced when she has time for her practice, time for family and friends.

The purpose of a Vinyasa class is to link the traditional yoga asanas / postures together into a harmonious flow of transitioning positions while giving focus to active meditation. This could be considered a more 'active' class than our Hatha offerings. It is dynamic yet soft in nature, and relaxation is often reserved to the end of the session. The sequence of postures will vary from class to class, building on the fluid transitions of core asanas to develop strength, flexibility, balance and focus.
This class is taught in English, most of our teachers do speak some French, don't hesitate to ask for help understanding.
This 90-minute class will build even more heat than our classic 60-minute classes.
