This hour-long combination of resistance training and intervals of cardio will keep your heart rate elevated, burn calories, and increase your lean muscle mass (resulting in an increase in metabolic rate that will help you burn even MORE calories outside class time!). This class is tailored for those who are looking for a fun and engaging way to increase cardiovascular fitness and strength; all while in a supervised, encouraging, and supportive atmosphere. The workouts are designed with the goal of burning fat and toning muscle to make you feel lean, strong and confident.
✅ CLASS LEVEL:
There is no ‘minimum fitness level’ required to participate, all levels are welcome! All the exercises can be adapted to your individual ability without affecting the group, and the instructor will demonstrate all exercises in detail and give different options for participants of different levels.
Whether you are only just starting on your journey to better fitness or are already very sporty and want to increase your performance by cross training, this class will be equally beneficial in getting you to your goal.
PART 1 Warm-up: Each class will begin with a 5-10 minute warm up focused on joint mobility, dynamic stretching, and gradually elevating the heart rate. This warm-up will help prepare the joints and muscles for training, as well as act as an introduction to any movements the participants might not be familiar with.
PART 2 Workout: The workout portion of the class (approximately 40 minutes long) contains
a mixture of two types of training:
Resistance Training - These functional movement exercises are designed to engage a maximum number of muscles. As opposed to isolated gym equipment exercises that only work on a few muscles at a time in a superficial range of motion, resistance training mimics your natural functional movement patterns and hence develops your strength and fitness for an improved quality of life. These resistance exercises will be performed either with bodyweight alone, or with the use of resistance bands to mimic the effect of weight training on the body.
Cardiovascular Interval Training- This portion of the workout is designed to improve your heart-centered fitness as well as increase your body’s fat-burning capability during and after your workout. This will involve running, jumping, skipping, and more. The resistance and cardio intervals will contain exercises designed to challenge the entire body: legs, arms, back and abdominals.
PART 3 Cooldown: Following the workout, time will be taken at the end to stretch and bring down the heart rate. This portion will contain a mixture of yoga poses and stretches, performed at a low intensity.
This class is held in English, though most of our teachers do speak some French, so they can help you understand if you have questions. The great thing about taking this class in another language is that you can mostly learn by watching!
WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING, AND CHANGING FACILITIES
As we will be exercising outdoors, there are no dedicated changing facilities. If possible, please come already wearing your exercise clothes:
- Trainers / sports shoes
- Comfortable, layered clothing. Wear something to keep you warm during the warm up and cool down, but something that you can take off during the main part as you may get a bit hot and sweaty.
- Water bottle
- Yoga mat or towel (optional) - to provide you more comfort during the final yoga parts of the class.
📍 DIRECTIONS: We will meet either at the entrance for the Tuileries Metro (up until 5 minutes before the start of class) or at the lawns between the Museum des Arts Decoratifs and the Louvre School of Art, where the class will take place.
